In the summer of 2015, Geo-Dredging and Dewatering Inc was chosen by the general contractor to treat contaminated water from an abandoned mine in Central Ontario. The water was contaminated with arsenic, cobalt, copper, and nickel. Geodredging technicians were able to reduce all contaminants to below the effluent limits using chemical treatment and Geotube® technology for heavy metals removal.

An underground goldmine in a remote area of Canada was undergoing a refurbishment of their tailings storage facility and required the services of Geo-Dredging and Dewatering to manage treated groundwater that had high levels of arsenic.

The El Mochatino mine, Honduras, runs a contaminated tailings lagoon at risk every wet season to landslides. To prevent displacement of the contaminated lagoon by landslides, Geotube® units filled to a weight of 3000 metric tons using local mine material were stacked to act as a dam.

During the construction of interstate 99, PA, pyretic rock from previous mining was uncovered, that when exposed to oxygen and water creates heavy metals and acids. Over 700,000 cubic yards of pyretic rock was uncovered and allowed to drain into settling ponds. From here Geotube® and polymer technology was able to trap the hazardous material.

Slurry as a by-product from the North river Mine, Alabama, required dredging and removal from site. Geotube® technology was selected as the most efficient and cost effective method. Four layers of geotubes consisting over 240 containers were used to remove 200,000 cubic yards of material. The site was then available for remediation.

To suppress explosions, mines near the Manitowic River in Wisconsin, were flooding the drill shafts. To resurface this water, Wisconsin DNR had placed a permit level of 40mg/L TSS that the mining company had to achieve. Geotube® technology was utilized filtering 8 months of mining residuals to below the permit level.
