Restoring Beaches in Cancun, Mexico

After a number of hurricanes, Cancun’s, Mexico, beaches and sandbars were in major need of restoration. Working with the Mexican Tourism Board, 81 Geotube® units were installed covering a space over 1.24 miles. New Beaches were created from dredging and filling of the Geotube® units.

NASA Wallops Flight Facility

NASA flight facility on Wallops Island, Virginia, was severely eroded during the 2006 Hurricane Ernesto. With a scheduled flight a year later, Geotube® technology was used to remediate the beach using 23 Geotube® units, over 4600 feet in length in a speedy 2 month process.

Protecting Beach Front Property in New Jersey

Severe erosion across the New Jersey Shoreline saw the Environmental Protection Agency implement Geotube® technology across 400 feet of beach. Tan coloured Geotube® units were laid and filled with a sand mixture to provide support from further erosion.

Shoreline Protection in Florida

Upham Beach, Pinellas county, Florida faces major erosion and remediation every year during the storm season. In 2004, the US Army Corp of engineers employed 200’ Geotube® containers to form a ‘T’ section on the beach that will act as a permanent cost cutting measure against coastal erosion.

Geotube® Shoreline Protection at Round Lake

Round Lake, Ontario, regularly faces property damage through erosion and ice destruction every winter. Previous methods were unsatisfactory, so Bishop Water constructed a 100ft Geotube® across the shoreline to act as a long term preventative measure. Success of the project is based on the lack of further erosion.
