WHO WE ARE
Bishop Water Technologies is a wastewater treatment company based in Renfrew, Ontario. We perform municipal, industrial, and large environmental projects both for sludge/sediment dewatering and wastewater treatment, working with consultant engineers, general contractors and wastewater plant operators.
JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW
We are currently looking for a new team member who will work with the existing team on project development and project execution. Daily tasks may include monitoring research projects through testing and data entry/sampling and analysis, editing reports and proposals, conducting research related to water and wastewater treatment, communicating with clients and customers, and troubleshooting project equipment/instrumentation. Managing ongoing projects.
Qualifications, Skills, Expertise, and Qualities Required:
- Graduated from an engineering or science program (college or university; university is preferred)
- Experience working with lab equipment and in a lab setting
- Computer literacy – Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, and Google Drive (G Suite), as well as an ability to learn new programs quickly
- Excellent writing and editing skills
- Has shown an interest in the environmental sector
- A team player that can work collaboratively, but can also carry out tasks with minimal supervision
- A quick-learner and self-starter with the ability to focus on the big picture to prioritize work schedule
- Eager to continuously learn and improve
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience with handiwork (plumbing, carpentry, construction, electrical)
- Experience in the wastewater sector (Level 1 or higher wastewater certificate is an asset)
- Project management experience
OVERVIEW
Major Areas for Responsibility:
- Assist with the development and administration of project contracts, budgets, quality control, sub-contract management, etc.
- Assist in the daily management of projects
- Represent Bishop Water/Geo-Dredging in business development with customers, consultants, engineers, stake-holders, sub-contractors, suppliers and other private or public agencies
- Suggest strategies of achieving the project goals
- Prepare and review project proposals for solids-management and BioCord projects
- Help with various research projects
- Necessary Skills & Knowledge:
- Have a thorough understanding of company safety manual and OHSA manual
- Have a valid driver’s license and be able to safely operate company vehicles
- Knowledge of construction/civil engineering design and planning principles/procedures
- Ability to develop and present project estimates
- Ability to read plans, schematics, shop drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
- Technical knowledge of civil engineering project materials and methods
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Skill in the use of computers – MS Office, Google G-Suite, and estimating software/job costing systems
- Able and willing to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Be able to clearly communicate with crew and management, often numerous times daily
- Be able to write clearly and legibly
- Self starter and passion for the environmental industry
Education and Experience:
- The following education or experience will be considered an asset:
- Completion of P.Eng, AScT, C.E.T., C.Tech or GSC certification
- Occupational First Aid – Level 1 or equivalent
- Knowledge of wastewater treatment chemicals, polymers, and their application for treatment and sludge dewatering
Physical Demands:
- Sitting for extended periods of time
- Ability to work evening and weekends as required to meet deadlines
- Work in extreme temperatures

The compensation package will be developed to align with the specific role that the candidate fills but will generally include the following:
