FCM funding can help with pilot testing of BioCord® Reactors and ClariPhos® rare earth coagulant

Test the ability of BioCord® Reactors and ClariPhos® Rare Earth Coagulant to improve the performance and treatment capacity of your wastewater treatment plant. Our simple, low-energy solutions are designed to extend the life of your wastewater plant, enabling your community to grow, while avoiding the need to add costly, complex plant upgrades that can significantly increase operating costs too.

Pilot tests of these innovative technologies are eligible for grant funding from the Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) through its Municipal Green Fund. This program provides up to $500,000 to cover up to 50% of project costs. Municipalities under 20,000 people may qualify for a grant that covers up to 80% of program costs.

Bishop BioCord Reactors

Bishop BioCord Reactors provide an easy-to-use, fixed-film biological process to improve year-round ammonia removal for lagoons or conventional activated sludge systems. A pilot system can be quickly and easily installed as an in-situ or side-stream process, often while the plant remains in operation. An optimized BioCord Reactor system can achieve ammonia removal of 90% or more, even when the wastewater temperature is as low as 1°C.

BioCord Reactors can be installed directly into a treatment lagoon, avoiding the need for costly tanks, pumps and blowers.

ClariPhos Rare Earth Coagulant

ClariPhos can also be easily tested and compared against alum- or ferric-based coagulants for phosphorus removal. This advanced rare earth coagulant is capable of achieving phosphorus levels as low as 0.07 mg/L without tertiary filtration, reduce sludge production by as much as 50%, and increase the solids concentration in dewatered sludge by up to 40%. Most treatment plants already have the required equipment and pumps in place for phosphorus precipitation, which means operators can just replace aluminum or iron coagulants with ClariPhos.

ClariPhos forms a dense precipitate that settles up to two times (2x) faster than ferric- or alum-based coagulants.
