ClariPhos® Coagulant – Now Made in Canada

As Canadian trade relations make a serious pivot, plant operators are navigating supply chain disruptions left and right. The situation has created an unstable pricing environment, impacting budgets for the equipment and consumables that operators need to do their jobs.

Meanwhile, wastewater regulations carry on. And as some treatment plants receive phosphorus limits as low as 0.05 mg/L, there’s no margin for error.

Until now, ClariPhos Rare Earth Coagulant was imported from the US; however, through thoughtful reshoring, we’re proud to say that ClariPhos is now manufactured in Canada!

Fabriqué au Québec

Bishop Water has removed the guesswork from your coagulation chemical supply chain. Our new Quebec-based manufacturer enables us to offer the same ClariPhos product without the risk of surprise tariffs or cross border hang ups. It also means that your coagulation costs and supplies are reliable—all while keeping the entire transaction inside the Canadian economy. Producing ClariPhos domestically comes with newfound customer benefits as well.

  • Delivery volumes as small as single totes and partial bulk tank refills;
  • More domestic supply, shortening lead times and accommodating urgent orders;
  • Lower transportation costs;
  • Reduced carbon footprint with each delivery.

Stable, predictable coagulation

Unlike iron and aluminum-based coagulants, ClariPhos is made with elements that have a very high affinity for phosphate. These elements form a tight ionic bond with phosphorus, creating a dense and insoluble precipitate that settles up to two times faster than conventional aluminum or iron-based coagulants.

By tailoring ClariPhos to preferentially bond with phosphorus, we’ve created a coagulant that produces 50% less sludge than aluminum- or iron-based coagulants with better removal rates. ClariPhos is also less acidic than aluminum and iron, reducing pH adjustment demands. And with a freeze temperature of -40°C, heated storage and heat tracing can be minimised or eliminated.
