The Pangnirtung WWTP, on Baffin Island, experiences below freezing temperatures for eight months of the year, which means every process must be indoors—even sludge management. A centrifuge or belt press was considered for sludge management, but the complexity, cost, high energy usage and limited access to parts made them impractical for the Arctic community.
Instead, the plant uses the Bishop Solids Management Solution, which relies on Geotube® containers, polymers and gravity for low-energy sludge collection and dewatering.
Read the case study to learn how our system makes a big difference for the small plant.
